Carving Care

Caring for your carving is quite easy, with a minimal amount of care, your carving will maintain its new appearance for years to come. Its simple. As with all large carvings some slight checking may occur. To keep this to a minimum, simply apply a liberal coating of boiled linseed oil once or twice per year. As for the smaller carvings just a good soaking with your standard household furniture polish when you do the other furniture in your house, or when your carving begins to look dry.

For the brown bears and moose, touch ups can be easily done using Min-Wax Dark Walnut stain. If a small crack appears that is unsightly just spray or brush some stain into the crack and it will blend in quite nicely. For the black bears, they have been sprayed with a black oil based paint. Touch ups can be easily done using a can of gloss black spray paint.
